TRAINING for TRANSITION

Training for Transition is an in-depth experiential introduction to Transition for those considering bringing Transition to their community. It meets the training requirement for local groups to become an internationally recognized Transition Town.
• Experience a deep understanding of the Transition ethos
• Learn ways of encouraging the creation of a positive, shared vision for your community’s future
• Receive tools for community outreach, education and engagement • Learn how to summarize the twin crises of Climate Change and Peak Oil
in ways that move people to positive action
• Explore the obstacles that have prevented our communities
from recognizing and positively responding to the challenge of energy transition
• Receive support for becoming a Transition catalyst in your community
• Connect with others who are responding to the call for Transition • Become a part of one a rapidly growing positive, inspirational, global movement!
Course is limited to 30 participants.
Curriculum: The course includes the “fundamentals” for those wishing to know how to set up, run, and maintain a successful Transition Initiative. It is packed with imaginative and inspiring ways to delve into both the theory and practice of Transition, providing training in the basics of Transition for new communities coming on board.
Who should attend: People interested in learning about Transition in greater depth and leaders already creating a Transition Initiative in their community
Instructors: This Training for Transition course will be taught by Alastair Lough, PhD (co-founder of the Transition Center, Portland, Maine), and Tina Clarke (national & regional consultant, trainer & environmental leader). Together they bring decades of experience in natural resources, organizational behavior, group facilitation, visioning processes, event planning and environmental leadership.
Schedule: Saturday, April 24, 9:00 AM registration; workshop 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Sunday, April 25, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with a 1 hour lunch break. Cost: $170.00. We consciously work to keep costs low, and the course affordable. Some partial scholarships are available. If you would like a scholarship, we ask that you request support of at least 5 people to contribute $10 each to help defray expenses.
