Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and agricultural systems that mimic the relationships found in natural ecologies. This field day will explore what can be done using permaculture techniques on a what, at first glance, appears to be a less-than-ideal home site for gardening. View edible landscaping using forest garden techniques, part of which includes top-bar honeybee hives and chickens. Learn how these animals are integral to this garden system as well as about their mentor opportunities in backyard beekeeping. Participants will leave with a new perspective on what is possible in the home landscape!
