Workshop to detail principles of permaculture
SUNY Oswego will present a workshop on permaculture—harmonious integration of plants, people, animals and resources in a productive community—on Tuesday, Oct. 12, featuring trained permaculture educator Valerie Dawnstar.

The program will take place 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 118A of Rich Hall. It is free and open to the public, though the college’s Office of Business and Community Relations asks those planning to attend to register at 315-312-3492 or obcr@oswego.edu.

“Permaculture is the integration of water, people, animals, plants, agriculture, building and technology to create the most efficient, productive, beautiful and regenerating environment,” said Dawnstar, a 2007 alumna of SUNY Oswego. “Permaculture provides us with the tools to create a resilient society, and to design using the principles of healthy ecological systems as the guide for integrating our lives with the natural world that sustains us.”

Thad Mantaro, assistant director of OBCR, said the college is “committed to supporting the community through community-based sustainability programming.”
