Rain Water Catchment System Workshop, October 9th, Albany

*Rain Water Catchment System Workshop, October 9th, 1pm at 84-92 Catherine St., Albany*
Water isn’t a scarce resource here, now, but it is a valuable (necessary) resource we shouldn’t just be funneling into the sewers. At this workshop, in association with Grand St. Community Arts Vacant Lot Project, the Catherine St. Vacant Lot Project will be presenting a workshop on how to install a small scale (150 gallon) water catchment system using used, food-grade barrels. We will also be discussing the importance of saving water.
“Freshwater makes up a very small fraction of all water on the planet. While nearly 70 percent of the world is covered by water, only 2.5 percent of it is fresh. The rest is saline and ocean-based. Even then, just 1 percent of our freshwater is easily accessible, with much of it trapped in glaciers and snowfields. In essence, only 0.007 percent of the planet’s water is available to fuel and feed its 6.8 billion people.” National Geographic
