Permaculture Design Certification course formats

I know other permaculture groups have wrestled with the best way to handle the scheduling as well. Midwest Permaculture offers the first week in the form of a webinar so students only have to show up in person for the second week. I took the webinar a couple years ago – logged on twice a week on Skype for several weeks. It was very interesting and made the rest of the winter go by a lot faster!
I know Bill Mollison is not a fan of formal education, but it seems to me that what Will Hooker’s doing down at NC State is one good way to handle it. WH has made his Intro to Permaculture course available for free to anyone who wants to watch on NCSU’s distance learning site. These are much newer videos (and better quality) than the set available on Itunes. I think this course is the first half of the PDC, then students have to take a design course in the school’s landscape architecture program to complete it. The thing about college classes is they can also be offered at night for those that work – over a period of weeks so it’s not so intense and overwhelming.
