Panel Members Wanted for Screening of “First Earth” Film in Syracuse
Hi Colloquium Brothers and Sisters,
The Alchemical Nursery (www.alchemicalnursery.org) here in Syracuse has been
blessed to be a part of a local event for the past two years called the Westcott
Bulb Project (http://bulbproject.weebly.com/)which is sort of a mini community
fair in which free flowering bulbs are given away for planting.
Our action the past two years during this event has been to screen a film on
progressive topics and then host a discussion immediately following. In 2009 we
screened “Little Homestead in the City” and last year was “Visions of Utopia” by
the Fellowship for Intentional Community. This year we are screening “First
Earth: Uncompromising Ecological Architecture” by David Sheen and PM Press (you
can learn more about it here: http://www.davidsheen.com/firstearth/)
We are looking for natural builders from the Syracuse or CNY area whom either
live, practice their building, and/or have a business in the region, or who do
business regularly here if you are physically located outside the region to sit
on a 30 minute discussion panel which will immediately follow the film. You
will be asked to give a short 3-5 minute introduction to yourself and a reaction
to the film, and then we will open up for questions from the audience. You will
have space to place marketing materials out at the entrance to the screening,
and we have had over 50 attendees at each of the former two film screenings who
you will be exposed to. We will also be videotaping the discussion session and
it will then be available for viewing on our website to many thousands of others
over time (we currently have over 450 registered web members).
The event will be held at the Westcott Community Center in Syracuse NY, on
Saturday October 1. The film will screen from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, with the
panel discussion from 12:30 am to 1:00 pm. We are in the process of producing a
flyer and we will include your name on it if we come to an arrangement for you
to participate. We hope to have the flyer and accompanying web marketing up and
active no later than Friday September 9, so your prompt response to this inquiry
would be appreciated (there are limited panel spots and we will likely accept
folks on a first-come basis).
By the way, the event is free (we will collect goodwill donations) and everyone
is invited, whether or not you end up on the panel. Hope some of you can
possibly join us, please get in touch with any questions or to be considered for
a spot on the panel.
Blessings ~Frank
