Fall Semester 2012 Weekend Series – Permaculture Design Certification Course at Sirius Community – an inspirational ecovillage located in Shutesbury, Massachusetts, just a 15 minute drive from the center of Amherst, Massachusetts. Course #PLNTSOIL 596 – Independent Study; This course fulfills a core requirement for the Sustainable Food and Farming Major at UMass Amherst. Students in the 5 colleges can attend this course for 3 College Credits!

This is a 72-hour certification course that takes place over four weekends:
Sept 14-16;
Oct 26 (evening) -Oct 28;
Nov 16 (evening) – Nov 18;
Dec 7 – 9
Participants can expect:Hands-on practice in the gardens and with ecological design practice;
Guided permaculture design process from client interviews with onsite design clients, to site assessment and design generation;
Time to to meet and work with some of the best permaculture designers from the northeast;
Opportunity to gain your certification in permaculture design.
University accredited: The Sowing Solutions Permaculture Design Certification Course is sponsored by the UMass Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture and UMass Permaculture. Any student in the 5-college consortium can receive up to 3 academic credits by enrolling in this course at no additional charge.The venue:The Sirius EcoVillage is a retreat center offering organic meals, gardens, greenhouses, energy efficient and natural buildings, trails for hiking, snow shoeing or cross country skiing, sauna, and much more!
Tuition: Course tuition is a sliding scale of $900-$1200. There are additional fees for meals and accommodations (if needed) on site at Sirius. If you are enrolled in the 5 colleges, there is no additional fee for college credit.
