Sheet Mulching Workshop Tonight (Thursday, 5:30-6:30)
Thursday October 4th, 5:00 – 7:00 for an educational workshop on SHEET MULCHING to be held at the Rahma Forest Garden (3100 South Salina St), as part of the Cornell Cooperative Extension / Syracuse Grows Fall Gardener’s Workshop Series.
Bulb planting, weeding, and garbage pick up will also commence at 5:00 pm for those whom come early to help out, the sheet mulching workshop will get underway from 5:30-6:30, and we’ll hang out until dark continuing weeding, garbage cleanup, and bulb planting. We’ll also be installing our interpretive sign for the site on this day if you’d like to be involved. Hope you’ll be able to make it.
This will be primarily show-and-tell, discussion between 5:30 – 6:30. Sheet mulching started fall 2011 and has continued through end of summer 2012, you will be able to see the progress of the materials functions and breakdown over the course of time, and learn about the strategy and technique used for suppressing weeds/grass, providing a growing medium, and conserving water.
