Last Planting day of 2012 at Rahma Forest Garden

We’ve got a fall plant order in from Miller Nurseries this week, and want to get them in the ground soon. Let’s get out to the forest garden (3100 South Salina St) on Friday November 2 after work from 4:30 pm til dark and get this done. Bring a shovel, trowel if you’ve got them.

Along with the list here, we’ve still got tons of daffodil bulbs as well, so everyone will be able to get their hands in the soil. And whatever daffodil we don’t get planted will be available to volunteers to take home with them. Also, if we’re lucky and there is no frost bewtween now and then, tomatoes, herbs, and more will be open for harvesting.

1 Dwarf North Star Cherry, 1 Nectarest Dwarf Nectarine, 1 Dwarf Hybrid Red Anjou Pear, 1 Shiro Dwarf Plum, 1 Plumcot, and 2 Reliance Dwarf Peach

Oh yeah, and we’ll be weeding as we plant, and trying to get any of those late season maturing undesirable plants from dropping their seed on our mulched top surface so our cover crops have the advantage come spring!

And lastly, we are expecting a special guest. Andrea Buckvold from the S.U. College of Visual and Performing Arts will be on location to produce video footage of our daffodil planting activity to be used towards a documentary video of the Westcott Bulb Project which is where we obtained our bulbs.
