Free PC course. Too good to be true?
Peter:
Usually if something appears to be too good to be true, then that is what is going on. From looking at the site it looks as though there will be money charged somewhere along the line. I sent an email to Keith Johnson at the Permaculture Activist about this. He will probably reply in a day or two. He and a few others of us discussed a guy named "Vlad" putting on lame courses in the Pacific North West. People apparently were ripped off for pretty good sized sums of money. This ecology scam artist seems to come back again and again as different incarnations for the past few years. Creatures such as this guy were bound to surface sooner or later.
It takes a lot of time and work both to teach and learn a Permaculture Design Course, and that is just the beginning. The course I teach is 112-120 hours long. I have reasons for this. The course started out as a 3 week course which amounted to around 120 hours plus. Then it was cut down to 72 hours to enable, I suppose, more people to take the course. This has done the usual lowering quality while upping quantity. Class sizes are usually limited to keep quality standards high. The certificate at the end of the PDC means that the graduate is an apprentice Permaculture Designer, and not a full fledged Designer, and is not certed to teach a PDC by themselves. Some PDC announcements leave that part out or make it unclear in order to get people to pay. Where do you live? I can send you a list of good teachers in your region. There are some courses starting up in the next few months. Permaculture Activist has a national list and dates for courses. I will forward what Keith says about this.

Do I vaguely remember untoward assessments of this group?
Information regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
